WHY DANCE?

There is no doubt that Ballroom Dancing in general is an ‘in’ thing nowadays. The successes of the “Dancing with the Stars” , "So You Think You Can Dance" franchise in numerous countries as well as movies like “Shall We Dance” are proof enough of the ballroom craze.

Much of the appeal of ballroom dancing comes from the workout aspect. In a sense, ballroom dancing is a fun form of exercise. One gets to burn calories without the tedious boring cycles of going to the gym running on treadmills, completing a set number of crunches, performing push-ups, lifting weights or anything like that. At long last, one can literally have fun while doing something important like keeping fit and healthy. In addition, anybody can get into ballroom dancing.

Exercising by jogging (outdoors or on treadmill) is an unattractive alternative for many people. Dancing is a mild form of aerobic workout and dance lessons make exercise a fun and enjoyable social event any night of the week. Your dance “workout” is beneficial in many ways:

- Olympic athletes often include dance in their training to sharpen control, agility, speed and balance.
- Dance contributes to good posture and body alignment
- Dance encourages gentle stretching
- Dance increases your flexibility and stamina
- Dance benefits your cardiovascular system as you swing and sway from hip to shoulders
