WHY DANCE?

There is no doubt that Ballroom Dancing in general is an ‘in’ thing nowadays. The successes of the “Dancing with the Stars” , "So You Think You Can Dance" franchise in numerous countries as well as movies like “Shall We Dance” are proof enough of the ballroom craze.

Much of the appeal of ballroom dancing comes from the workout aspect. In a sense, ballroom dancing is a fun form of exercise. One gets to burn calories without the tedious boring cycles of going to the gym running on treadmills, completing a set number of crunches, performing push-ups, lifting weights or anything like that. At long last, one can literally have fun while doing something important like keeping fit and healthy. In addition, anybody can get into ballroom dancing.

Exercising by jogging (outdoors or on treadmill) is an unattractive alternative for many people. Dancing is a mild form of aerobic workout and dance lessons make exercise a fun and enjoyable social event any night of the week. Your dance “workout” is beneficial in many ways:

- Olympic athletes often include dance in their training to sharpen control, agility, speed and balance.
- Dance contributes to good posture and body alignment
- Dance encourages gentle stretching
- Dance increases your flexibility and stamina
- Dance benefits your cardiovascular system as you swing and sway from hip to shoulders

DANCING WITH US..

Competition can be an important part of ballroom dance experience. It provides a wonderful tool through which every student can challenge themselves regardless of their age or level of dancing.

Best of all, competitions encourages camaraderie between individuals who share a common interest. Each competition is a new learning experience and provides exposure to great dancing. Should you be seriously interest in competitions, we also offer coaching, seminars and workshops in addition to private lessons.

PRIVATE LESSONS..

Private lessons are classes where you work one-on-one, at your own pace and at your own schedule with an instructor who specially caters to your learning needs. Private classes can be either social or competitive in nature. They are by appointment only and can be made anytime between 10am to 10pm, Monday through Sunday. These custom designed lessons are wonderful for beginners as well as those who have previous dance experience.

Do you have a wedding or a special occasion coming up?  Private lessons are wonderful way to learn special dance routine.

GROUP LESSONS..

A large part of learning to dance is practice. Group lessons are an excellent way to practice with many different partners without feeling the intimidation of a crowed dance floor. Group classes are also an amazing way to socialize with new people who share the same interest in dance. Additionally, they are an economical way to learn to dance.

Attendance ranges from 5 to 20 people, depending on the class. Don’t have a partner, no problem.  Many of our students come by themselves. If you’re not sure whether group classes are right for you, come by and check one out. The first class is complimentary.

PRIVATE GROUP LESSONS..

Semi-private or private group lessons provide you and a group of friends with the advantages of private lessons (working at your own pace and at your own schedule) coupled with the cost efficiency of group lessons. Semi-private lessons are great for wedding parties, birthday parties, family reunions and corporate events or anyone who wants to experience the exciting  world of dancing with a few close friends.

DRESS CODE..

Although there isn’t a strict dress code at  The it Factor Academy , we do suggest business casual attire.   Wear something comfortable to dance in as it is difficult to concentrate on learning when you are occupied with tugging at hems or tripping over lengthy skirts or pants.

Of course, do not wear sneakers or any other rubber soled shoes. Additionally, street shoes aren’t permitted in the studio. If you are going to be dancing on a regular basis, we suggest investing in sensible dance shoes. For your convenience, here it is a LINK to a Dance Wear store few blocks from our Studio, make sure to mention you are coming from The it Factor Academy and what dance class you are taking.
